Dear Colleagues: We hope you will join us for the 6th International Wolbachia Conference. Attached are the registration forms for the 6th International Wolbachia Conference that will be held from June 9th (evening reception) - June 14th (leaving day) at the Asilomar Conference Center, Asilomar, CA (http://www.visitasilomar.com).

Location:

Asilomar is located 2 hours south of San Francisco and is easily reached from San Francisco International Airport (2:15 hours), from San Jose Airport (1:45 hours), or Monterey Airport (a few minutes). A shuttle service to Monterey can be booked for $35 (from SJC) or $45 (from SFO) at Monterey Airbus (http://www.montereyairbus.com), click on the "Monterey" schedule. From Monterey it is about 2 more miles to Asilomar, for which cabs are the best option (Yellowcab Peninsula 800-595-1222). Taxicabs are available at the Monterey Airport for transfer to Asilomar. Fares are $20 - $25 one-way.

REGISTRATION for Presentation Abstract
(Deadline: March 15, 2010)

Presentation will be in oral or poster format. Oral sessions will include 20 to 25 minute talks. The Organizing Committee encourages poster presentations (3.5x4 feet; 107x122 cm). Preferences for oral presentations will be considered, but we may not be able to accommodate all requests. Title and abstracts should be as informative as possible. After reviewing all abstracts, the organizing committee will decide on the final scientific program.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO PhD STUDENTS AND POSTDOCS
(Deadline: March 1, 2010)

Limited Financial support for travel costs to the meeting is available for graduate students and postdocs. To be eligible, applicants must be a graduate student or a postdoctoral fellow at the time the application is due. We anticipate giving graded awards based on distance traveled. Please note that the awards should be considered grants-in-aid and will not cover the registration or conference center costs.

Applications must be received by March 1st so that applicants can be informed about their eligibility by the March 14th registration deadline. Applicants need to e-mail the following documents to Lori Tonello (tonello@neb.com) in pdf format. Please refer to "Wolbachia Meeting Student Support" in the subject line:

Advisor letter:

The advisor letter should 1) certify applicant eligibility, 2) evaluate the merit of the applicant for the award, 3) indicate the value of conference attendance for the applicant at this time, and 4) explain how financial aid will increase the probability that the applicant will be able to attend. Letter should not exceed one page and should be submitted in word or pdf format.

Please note that students/postdocs receiving travel awards will need to prepay their travel costs. Should an award be made, more information will be solicited before and at the meeting to satisfy various bureaucracies (we will let you know what we need). Following the meeting, reimbursement will be mailed to the recipients.
